Reddit + AI for Strategy

Reddit + AI = is my new strategy superpower.

Let me show you how I use this duo.

Step 1: Recruit the right voices
Search Reddit comments, not just posts.
I look for the product used as a solution.
This gives me a list of subreddits.

I then double check that that’s my audience.
Sometimes it’s not.

For example: Labubu

One of the things I found was that there were haters speaking about it too.
So crossing those subreddits off the list and only getting the audience who liked them, was key.

You should be left with a list of subreddits to prompt AI with.

Step 2 - Strategy Starting Pieces - Goals, Problems (Tension)
In strategy we are looking for 4 pieces. Always.
Goal, problem, insight, solution.

The brand comes in the solution.

So don’t ask about the product yet.
Ask about the life it fits into.

Example: Gym shorts brand

→ Action: How to do it / Prompts
What role does going to the gym play in the lives of Gen Z? (emotional drivers)
What are Gen Z trying to feel when they go to the gym? (emotional goal)
What do people say they want to feel during a workout? (desired state)
What stops people from going to the gym, even when they want to? (consumer problem)
What makes someone feel self-conscious or confident at the gym? (external problems)

Step 3 - Insights - Explanations
An insight is a revelatory truth that makes you look at the problem in a new way.

We’re looking for explanations around the problem
Things people have not heard before.

Here’s some that we might have for our example

Action: How to do it / Prompts
Can you give links to comments in reddit posts for r/(SubReddit) where people have said statements like below, when talking about working out

✅ Framing Explanations & Root Causes
“The real reason is…”

“What people don’t understand is…”

“Most people think it’s about X, but actually it’s Y.”

“It’s not just about X, it’s also about…”

“At first I thought it was just…, but then I realised…”

✅ Shifting Perspectives
“I used to think…, but now I know…”

“It sounds dumb, but…”

“No one talks about this part of it…”

“I didn’t realise how much it affected me until…”

“It hit me when…”

✅ Contradictions / Shame / Tension
“I go all the time but I still feel…”

“Even though I love it, I kind of hate it too…”

“I know I should…, but I can’t make myself…”

“I’m embarrassed to admit this but…”

“I always feel like people are watching me when…”
